Plot Summary: Follow along with the frog as he travels through the small, small pond. Along the journey we see a geese parade, a dragonfly, turtles and herons. We also a school of minos, twirling beetles, birds, ducks, and muskrats. As winter comes, the small, small pond goes to sleep until next spring. 

This story is an easy read, and would be great for students to read by themselves in a classroom library.

6 ) Create representations to explain the unique and diverse life cycles of organisms other than humans (e.g., flowering plants, frogs, butterflies), including commonalities such as birth, growth, reproduction, and death.

  • This story is a great introductory into the lives of frogs.
  • We could discuss each animal that was found in the pond. What do you know about these animals?
  • We could then begin to break down the life cycle of frogs.
    • First, eggs are laid. Then they develop into tadpoles, which change to young frogs, before growing into adult frogs.
